Here Are Some Great Stand Up Comics You Don't Want to Miss When They Come to Your Town

Here are some great stand up comics working through out the country that you should see if you get the chance. Many small towns and mid sized cities no longer have a comedy club and many fans are missing out on some great stand up comics. There are web sites that offer top headlining stand up comedy clips for free.

You will have to supply your own beverages and nachos but you can enjoy great comedy at home or at the office (we won't tell) right in front of your computer. While it is not the same experience as a live comedy club show on a Saturday night it is still great comedy.

The talent on these sites is second to none and there is no two item minimum. Oh and no one will tell if you start heckling your computer. Check it out for laughs from comics like:

Carl LaBove is a master at physical comedy and was Sam Kinisen's best friend and
Opening act. His smart and funny stand up is second to none. As he delivers his killer material he acts out much of it. Carl is like stand up and a theater all rolled up into one very talented performer.

Ben Creed started out at Dangerfields in New York City. His gravely voice and dead on delivery has made him a comedy club favorite. Ben's take on the world is your ticket to a hilarious night of comedy.

Billy D Washington is known as the smoothest man in comedy. He blends great stand up comedy with amazing keyboards to become one of the most sought after headliners working. Take a look at his video clips to find out why. He has been seen on numerous late night television shows as well as last comic Standing.

John Padon has found a comfortable home on the Las Vegas strip where he performs his stand up at a number of locations. John started in the 80's and has been seen on all the major cable comedy shows. He has been the star of a number of Vegas shows and can seen there currently.

JR Brow has wowed audiences with his guitar licks around the country for years. This multi talented act blends his music with his unique comedy style to deliver killer comedy.

Carline Picard is the Cajun Queen of comedy. Carline takes no prisoners with her no nonsense material. She tells it like it is with a very funny twist on the world we live in. She has her own unique style and serves up comedy with a spicy kick.

What Women Want - Hugs

Dr. Marc Hollender, from Vanderbilt University, in 1981 for Family Weekly, talked about women wanting a non-sexual hug. The safety, comfort and love women receive sends them--not a direct quote. So then fast forward to Youtube.com and Free Hugs, which is more or less a campaign. It started out to help a man recover after his grandmother died. He was, to put it mildly, bummed out.

So he makes a manly sign that spells out Free Hugs and goes to a public place, and his first hug is from a short granny type woman with a head scarf, who caresses his face, and he gets on his knees so she can hug him because he is tall, and it doesn't last long enough. There are more hugs and tension and resolution of the tension and more hugs during a beautiful song by Sick Puppies.

So about 30 million people have watched this, and I don't see signs outside in public places with more people giving away hugs where I live. I made a few signs and gave them away to people I thought might do this activity. It might be interesting to see if I get arrested or cited or given a warning by having a sign like that one day, but right now I am too chicken. Of course, I might just get hugs and it might all work out, one day.

So here is a man giving and getting what women want. Women want hugs. Maybe more than anything else women want hugs. But never before has there been someone with a sign saying "Free Hugs" because the big sign for free hugs is open arms. And what would happen if Zorro the Greek (or it might very well be Zorba) held his arms open and everyone wanted to dance instead of hug? But people who want a hug open their arms. And who says Zorro is anything but Greek? Without the whip, he might get hugs, too. Maybe with more cheerful clothing and a smile, and a prop like a sign or stuffed toy, more people can be hug-able?

So what would be the big advantage of getting the hugs each one of us decides we need? Could it be that we talk more if we are silent, or talk less if we are noisy? Could it be that there is less crime, road rage, domestic violence, addictions, and the Universe becomes happy? What if there is a new exercise called, "Hug yourself thin"? Or what if we have a new yoga called, "Hug Yoga," instead of "Hot Yoga?" I wonder what kind of yoga positions huggers would assume?

A writer named Ethel Barrett wrote somewhere, "There are so many things about yourself you cannot explain to other people. Even those closest to you. Even people your own age. You can talk, and talk and TALK, but there is no use in talking and there is no end in talking, for there is no end of things in the heart." Maybe that is part of the hugging mystique.

Where did I put that Free Hugs sign? Hmmm, I wonder when someone will come up with a Free Kisses sign?

How To Be More Attractive: Gotta Have Sense Of Humor!

Men having great sense of humor ranked number three as being a personality trait that attracts women on survey results conducted by several magazines. Topping the survey is physical appearance and number two, financial stability.

Laughing can be very beneficial to one’s health, according to researchers. And a great sense of humor, which creates laughter, can make a lot of difference specially when dating women.

A lot of women see a guy with a great sense of humor very attractive mainly because it makes the conversation a lot lighter, it makes them laugh and dating a man who is very serious in his outlook in life makes the conversation heavy and can become very boring, according to studies, among two hundred college students.

The same study indicated that women like intelligent men and a great sense of humor is linked to intelligence, as a man with wits can think fast, able to produce a joke instantly that is suitable to the situation is clever indeed and is no “non-sense”.

Indeed, “laughter is the best medicine”. Considerable research and studies have proved that laughter and humor benefits the body as well as the emotion. It boost the “immune system”, reduces stress, relax the muscles, “lowers blood pressure”, increases pain tolerance and hastens the process of healing. No wonder women feel so good being with a man with great sense of humor!

Men having good sense of humor are always cheerful. To them, each day is sunny. Should dark clouds appear, they depend on laughter, confident that all problems will pass and instead of being discouraged, they move on with so much hope.

Even if a man is not really that attractive physically, but with a great sense of humor, women are usually drawn to him. Why? Because according to most women in a survey result, they are more at ease with these types of men, as they make the women laugh and as a result, let them feel that they can open up almost anything; a man with a great sense of humor encourages the woman to be confident.

Generally, men with a sense of humor have so much spunk in life. Not only can they come up with a joke unrehearsed, but also can take a joke.

Here are ways to sharpen and improve your sense of humor:

1. Encourage an environment of laughter and humor in the relationship that you have by concentrating on the comical or funny side of things and delighting in the laughter that they bring to mind. Then, you will soon begin to see humor in things that you do, including the problems that may come and handle them without stress in your relationship.

2. When you feel that you do not laugh that much and you feel that you should correct this, associate yourself with fun loving and humorous people. Try to go to happy places and you and your partner can engage in fun and lively activities.

3. Try laughing at yourself and at the situations around you. Many individuals are not able to laugh because they are insecure of themselves and because of personal fears. Often, they are scared to look silly in front of others and give the impression to be foolish, according to psychiatrists. It is essential to become conscious that all people make or commit mistakes and it is when you put up a pleasant laugh can make such mistake appear human.

4. Read on humorous books and collect clean jokes. Then when the need arises, there is always a joke ready to lighten up someone else’s day!

5. So as to neutralize disagreement in your relationship, use humor. When things in your relationship get uptight, “self deprecating humor” can lighten things. “Self-deprecating humor” encourages humility and nurtures courage, needed to take off the mask that one wears when insecure and uncovers one's weakness to his partner.

Having sense of humor in your relationship will add so much zest, help it become rewarding and can help both partners see life in a different perspective. A more carefree, cheerful and positive relationship will prosper as a result of a happy disposition between couples.

Humor And Writing Your Articles

One issue that creeps up often when writing articles is whether you should use humor in them. While this might seem like a good move, the answer is not entirely clear.

Humor and Writing Your Articles

Personally, I find that articles that offer humorous twists are better than those that do not. Obviously, this view only applies to situations where the subject matter allows for such a writing strategy. An article about drunk driving is probably not a good piece to insert your own brand of humor. Nonetheless, is it wise to insert humor into your writing style?

There are many reasons why you should insert humor into your articles. It makes your article stand out since few writers take this approach. To be blunt, most articles found on the web today are fairly bland. If you can throw in a humorous tone to yours, most publishers are going to react positively and pick up the piece. This, of course, leads to more exposure for you.

Articles with a humorous tone also tend to indirectly convey another positive aspect. Unless you are simply telling jokes, the writing will also convey a more personalized style. Humor is a personal taste, so yours will convey an article that gives the audience a feeling you know the subject matter and have something credible to say. Again, this is a positive development.

On the other side of the coin, there is a rather large risk to the humor approach. What is funny and not funny is a matter of taste. Many serious drama actors have said that trying to act in a comedy role is far more difficult than any other type of film. The same goes for writing. While you might be rolling on the floor laughing at your article, the audience for your piece may not. There is really no way to minimize this risk. Humor is a personal taste, so you will just have to risk it.

Should you try to write articles with humor in them? It cannot hurt, but I suggest it be done only so often.

What Makes Redneck Humor Funny?

When Jeff Foxworthy, of You Might Be A Redneck fame, went to New York to pursue his comedy career, even though he was regarded as funny, he was constantly told he should lose the accent. They told him the larger audiences wouldn't like listening to an accent.

Not only did he disagree with them, he ended up being right. Foxworthy, accent and all, is one of the funniest redneck humorists out there - and is currently the most successful funny man in the country. His albums have sold millions, his shows regularly sell out, he's had two network television shows, movies, DVDs, and even a Sirius radio network dedicated to his trademark "blue collar humor".

There are some significant differences between redneck humor and what you'd have to call New York humor, as there should be; both types of humor owe a lot to the cultures from which they came.

Redneck humor tends to poke fun at itself; New York humor tends to make fun of other people, often in an emotionally painful way.

Redneck humor relies as much on that slow, methodical delivery of the punchline as on the punchline itself. Other types of humor generally focus on the punchline or on shocking people.

Redneck humor tends to be gentle and, ultimately, loving. It laughs at your cousin George, who's kind of slow but you still love him. New York humor doesn't much love anyone - and often doesn't even like anyone else.

Redneck humor does not put on airs. It knows it's redneck and is comfortable with that. In contrast, a lot of Saturday Night Live humor seems forced, faked, and contrived. It originates from pain instead of from love.

Best of all, redneck humor is "got" by some three-quarters of America. Jeff Foxworthy is currently the most popular humorist in America, and his Blue Collar Comedy Tour helped make the careers of three other comics and sold millions of DVDs. Jerry Clower made a career of truly clean country humor, and he's been followed by many others, all carrying forward the old tradition of sit-around-the-porch storytelling.

If you pay attention, you find out pretty quick: good redneck humor is the essence of being redneck and/or Southern. It is part of what binds us together, what lets us laugh at the world and at ourselves. A real redneck does not take himself or herself too seriously. And a real redneck uses humor the way we've always used it: to help the tough times a little easier to take and impart an ounce or two of wisdom at the same time.

If you grew up around it, try doing it yourself: ask some of your friends over for beer and barbecue, then sit out on the back porch as the sun goes down, telling stories, inventing new redneck humor and retelling the old stories you remember from your childhood. Light some tiki torches. As the end of the night approaches, let your friends drift away, as you and your love bask in the enjoyment of great food, beer and fun.
